~ 2008 Season Entries ~

May 26, 2008

I've been enjoying the soft water season, as you can tell from these pictures from Lake Erie last month.  If you'd like a guided trip this summer call me to today and we can make plans for your favorite lake.

I've also added new wheel houses to better serve you next winter!

February 1, 2008

The walleyes are slowing, but the crappies have picked up a little bit.  The ice is still in great shape.

January 16, 2008

39" and 43" northerns have been caught in our houses this week.  There were also 12 broken lines that were either other good size northerns or some of our famous Red Lake seals!

With the law change this year that allows you to eat a meal of fish on the ice, most houses are catching a limit of walleyes as well as a good meal of walleyes for while they fish.

The crappies are being shy so far, with only 1-2 coming out of each house.

Red and orange have been the hot colors for catching all the fish of late.

There is 20 inches of good ice on the lake.  The roads are in great shape; no heaves, cracks or water on the ice!  Come up and check them out.

 January 3, 2008

The houses are all out and the ice and roads are in good condition.  Walleye limits are being caught frequently and some crappies are being caught as well.  There are still houses available, call to reserve yours.

January 31, 2007

A number of new testimonials have been coming in about people's great experiences with Club Red, check them out!

January 23, 2007

Club Red houses are all staying on the fish pretty well, buckets of crappies aren't uncommon.  Glow-in-the dark green Demons are the hot jig right now (they have a green head or green spot), any size.  "Wiener Master" Tom Goodin also said that he has caught 3 out of his 4 recent northerns on cheap Bar-S Hot Dogs!  Thanks for the tip Tom!

Red Lake has 24 inches of great ice, although some more snow would be nice.  Hillman's has a good 9 mile road with the new "Tall Tales Tavern" at the shore to share your stories at.  Club Red also has a road.

January 12, 2007

We have more than 20" of ice and the road on the lake goes out for 9 miles in good condition.  It has been cold and the ice just keeps getting better.  Limits of crappies are getting more common.  This week 2 guys caught 17 crappies and their limit of walleyes by constantly jiggling medium to large Swedish pimple type baits with shiner minnows.  Most of our houses are doing very well.

There are still openings during the week and some weekends.

January 4, 2007

Things are going well up at Club Red!  This week a couple guys caught 2 - 21 pound, 41 inch northerns (pictures) on 4 pound test line (with some help from the Club Red Gaff "N" Seal Club).  They also went home with a limit each of walleyes and a number of jumbo crappies.  All during the day time!

People are catching 25-40 walleyes a day for some active catch and release.  Perch and crappies are intermittently being caught to keep the bite varied.  There is 17" of good ice with little snow on the lake.  The houses are out at 5 miles.

December 27, 2006

Hard water season has begun!  There is 16 inches of good ice on the lake and my houses are all the way out to 8 miles out on Hillman's road.  People are limiting out on walleyes, although the crappies are harder to come by.

September 23, 2006

It's almost hard-water season, can you taste the fresh Red Lake Crappies?  Call now to book your ice fishing adventure!  Popular weekends are already filling up, so plan ahead.  A brand new 6 man, 12 hole house is being completed for the new season.  Also new this year, the Club Red Gaff "N" Seal Club, a Club Red exclusive!

~ 2006 Season Entries ~

May 6th, 2006

Just returned from a spring trip to Lake Erie, walleye fishing was great with many fish over 28.5 inches.  This week the Crappies are biting in the usual spots.  Also, a lot of big walleyes are biting, it should be a great opening weekend!!

April 3, 2006

Four wheeler access only now, some limits were still be caught by those that work at it.  We are all looking forward to the opening of summer season and walleye limits.

March 19, 2006

There is still dynamite fishing happening on Red Lake!  The best bite has been found from 2-4 am and the best spots are 8 miles out on Hillman's road.  I have pulled all my houses off for this year.  Thanks for a great hard water season!

Call to reserve your summer dates for when the walleyes open this spring.  Keep checking this site for any new updates you may want to know.

February 19, 2006

The Crappie bite was red hot last week, lots of limits were caught.  A 3 a.m. bite was common, those who left early missed out.  An orange hook was the best bait, with the glow jig coming in next.  Numerous pike in the 20 lb class are still being caught.  This person caught his within 15 minutes of opening the hole.  Pike are legal until February 28th.

After a week of sub zero weather ice conditions continue to be excellent.  We will have houses maintained through the end of March when the bite is usually the best.  We still have some openings, call for more information.

February 12, 2006

Crappie limits are being caught.  The bite is slower and seems to go throughout the entire night.  Large Northern's are still being caught with at least one 26 pounder this week.  Road conditions continue to be good, with 30 inches of ice.

February 5, 2006

Limits of Crappies are being caught, you may need to try a number of different jigs.  Some people are getting them on new ones, alot of people are getting them on  the same ones that worked last year.  I have them available to purchase.    We have 20 inches of good ice and temps have been between -13 to -17 at night.  Snow and temps are great for snowmobiling.

January 30, 2006

Crappie bite is improving with a number of large fish caught, largest being 15 1/2 inches, just under 2 lbs.  Hillman's road is wide and in good shape all the way to the reservation border.

January 22, 2006

The crappie bite is still spotty, here today gone tomorrow, but some people are still getting good catches.  The perch and walleye will keep you busy and the big northern are still biting.  This 22 pound, 42 incher caught on a tip-up using a sucker minnow will be a nice mount.

January 15, 2006

Crappie bite picked up this weekend maybe because of the full moon, not as many as last year but enough to keep it interesting.  Perch and walleye bite  continues to be good.  Remember, walleyes are all released.  The game wardens have been around, one person was caught with a dirty filet knife resulting in a walleyes in possession fine  (not in one of our houses).  Northern Pike are still active with one  22.5 pound, 43 inch Pike caught at 1am on 4lb test line.

January 8, 2006

The roads are still in good shape, temperature has remained below freezing so no melting.  The Crappie bite is slow, this week two muskies were caught and released, a 14" and a 27".  Walleyes and northerns continue to bite.

January 2, 2006

Roads are in good shape with 17" of ice in most areas.
New years eve we had one couple get 15 crappies so the bite is picking up.  Northern, Perch and catch & release Walleye action is good with at least one northern over 15 pounds released this weekend.  Remember walleyes open in May of 2006, summer guide dates are available (call 651-470-4179).
